Excerpts from an art pedagogy book for children I created with Tara Books. By extracting images from their vast collection of Indian indigenous and tribal art, I devised ways of encouraging children to consider different ways of viewing and depicting deer and the world around them through looking at different art styles. The book will be released later this year.

“This unusual art activity book featuring different kinds of deer introduces children to a variety of of Indian art traditions. Deer are imagined and rendered in eight different folk and tribal styles. Through tracing, patterning and colouring them, the child can immerse herself in detailed exploration of styles – or just have fun. Older children will begin to understand that art is as much about the imagination as it is about depiction.”
